Heater control problem

2007 F150 - now that winter is here my heater selector only allows warm air to blow out of the dash vents no matter which position the switch is in so no defroster. Is this electrically controlled or by a vacuum line like the old days?

It's electrically controlled. I'm guessing you've come across a known problem we see quite often. Your blend door has lost it's foam lining and it's become lodge against the side of the case, thus causing the door to bind. You will need to remove the dash and pull the foam out of the heater case, making sure after the foam is out that the doors move freely. I've done 6-7 of these at the dealership and have it down to about 3 hours for both removal and install of the dash as well as removing the foam. For a first timer and none mechanic.....your problably looking at a good 6+ hours.
