Heater Valve Placement

Hi Guys,

On our model trucks some of them have a heater control valve that is controlled by a cable running from the dash control to the heater control valve under the hood. Which heater hose dose this heater control valve go on? Does it go on the heater hose that connects to the water pump or the heater hose that connects to the engine block? Thanks for any help.

Connects to the intake?
