Hey all I have e4od questions that after searching I can't find the answer. I have a 94 Bronco XLT with 5.8 and e4od. The tranny only has reverse. I have seen that it could possibly be the mlps which I will check. Worst case sinereo I have priced rebuilds out from 2500 to 3500. The vehicle has 165k on her and current tranny was rebuilt in 2003 by Ford. Tranny has around 45k on it. Question: If I was to swap it out with another e4od, does it matter what year? I found one out of a 96 bronco with 5.8 and e4od. The e4od and the T-case for $250. It has 40k on it. Will this work in my 94?
I can't see how it could be the torque converter or the MLPS. Neither one would allow reverse but not forward. Something mechanical broke inside the trans.
An E4OD from a '96 Bronco should work fine in a '94. The solenoids body connector might be different, I can't remember.
Had something similar...only it was the shifter cable. The spot on the cable where it mounts to the bracket on the trans had come loose and would move from park to reverse but didn't have enough anchoring it to let it go into any forward gears. Might be worth a quick looksie under there!
