Got a fuel leak...

I'm hoping somebody out there can help me out before I have to start tearing the top of my motor apart. I've recently developed a fuel leak that I thought was a leaky o-ring in the fuel filter lid but it's actually leaking from the back of the filter housing. There's a hard fuel line that connects to the back of the housing via a short piece of soft hose about two inches long just below the yellow lever that drains the fuel from the bowl (sorry but that's the best I can describe it). The leak seems to be coming from where the rubber hose connects to the housing so I tried putting a clamp on it. No good, still leaks. It doesn't seem to be a high pressure line so it's unlikely that the hose is split right? Has anyone had a leak like this before? If so was it the hose or a part of the housing? I can see the black peice that the hose connesct to but it's pretty tight in there so I can't tell if that's what's leaking or not. If I have to pull the filter housing out how hard is it and what kind of o-rings or seals will I have to replace? Thanks for ANY info anyone can give me before I have to spend another hour in the freezing wind!

thats the fuel bowl drain valve. you can get new o rings from guzzle's website: Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines

i would get the blue mil spec ones so you dont have to do it anytime soon. you can do it with the bowl still in the truck. there are 4 torx bit screws that hold it in there and there is also instructions on guzzles maintenance page...

It's the o-rings for the drain valve that are leaking on you, it sounds like. As Clay told me when I talked to him last week about this, it may be a good idea to buy the o-rings for the whole fuel bowl.

I'd get the blue ones, as they hold up better (fluorosilicone vs. viton) Riffraff Diesel: Fuel Drain O-rings

For me, it was the two larger o-rings that were leaking. There are four T20 screws on the back that hold them in.

I just flipped the o-rings over for now, and it stopped the leak, but I was 900 miles from home last week. It took me a T20 bit, a 1" long socket extension, and a 1/4" rachet and about 20 minutes to take care of it all. Here's a good guide.

Welcome to guzzle's PSD Fuel Filter Drain Valve Repair Web Page

Thanks Mike, I get a lot of questions on how to pull the fuel bowl and HPOP and I think that will be the next writeup in the Maintenance section.

I am always looking for other PSers to volunteer their write-ups so I can post them on the site. Just need LOTS of original pictures.

Hope to see everyone at RRE in July!

Shoot, I didn't think what I know anyways, would even be considered, you guys have some great professional people in there, might have to break out the camera and dust off some old mod post. Would be honored. Contact spdmpo Keith, he did a great thread, Clay's FRx mod, I pass it around if anybody is thinking of doing this CC KIT..EDIT:: Just ordered your kit Bob, ..http://dieselorings.com/index.php?pa...cat=17&group=6 Thanks
