Can't imagine the benefit would be anything at all. what kind of upgrade is going from 3.5" steel to 3.5" stainless except making your wallet thinner.

That will only work if you are hooking up to a 4" exhaust. Otherwise no real gain over stock.

kelwar, appreciate the heads up on that down pipe but for about 400.00 or less, you could get a full exhaust system and a nice one too, 4 inch turbo back depending. Give us some info on your truck, year, trim, exct..and welcome to FTE.

The benefit of this would be if you're going with one of those cheap stack kits... the ones with the adapter for 4" to 5-8"...

Not a bad deal at all.

Stock DP is 3", not 3.5". This DP is from the 4" exhaust kits with a 3.5 DP, which some people say keeps you from loosing a bit of low end grunt at some expense of top end flow.

Ah, I see the difference now. just installed my MBRP 4" exhaust yesterday. Couple hours fairly easy by myself. Yea stock down pipe is pretty small compared to the new 4" one.

Sorry about the lateness of my reply my truck is an 02 f250 with a 6 speed I have already installed a 4" straight pipe from downpipe back so thought this would be a good cheap way to get rid of the restrictive stock 3" downpipe and while im at changing it will be alot easier to put a pyrometer in it while the down pipe is out (it looks tuff to get back at it in there under the cab) oh and I also have 1705 superchip for it but I do not have it installed right now I would also like to do the bellows style up pipe when im in there also
