I was going to order the L&L fenderwell exit headers but I found a bulletin that stated that they wouldn't fit a f250 4x4 without a 3" body lift. Is this the case or will they fit a regular f250? The truck is a 1978 f250 4x4 460 c6 and a 4" suspension lift. I would rather have the fenderweii exit rather than the shortys for ease of working on stuff. Thanks for the help I'm sure someone here knows.
Been running LnL header for almost 20 yrs. good product. Starter is easy to work on with fender exit headers. Starter doesn't get hot and wear out premature with headers near starter. highly reccomend getting metal gaskets for headers. Paper gskts will blow out. Once you install headers and torque up, drive and get hot and let cool down and doublecheck/retorque. Once you do this on first day you'll be good to go and no header leaks. The few times I've had header leaks it was operator error.

I'm looking at a L&L catalog and according to this, 1967-76 f250/f350 requires a 3" body lift, 1977-79 f250/f350 429/460 4wd fenderwell exit header #79750B, doesn't have a note for a body lift. Verify before ordering. http://www.l&lproducts.com/ or phone # 972-475-5202. I've talked with them before and they know their product and applications very well. They would be able to tell you why it needs a body lift, but it doesn't look like it does.
I have L&L Fenderwell exits on my 79 F-150 4x4 SWB with a 460 and a 1.5 body lift and they fit no problem so I know for sure you shouldnt need 3" lift. I absolutely love these headers, the best headers I have ever purchased.
Chalk me up as one more using L&L fenderwell headers with no body lift. Minor trimming of fender liner required. Truck is 79 F250 with 4" susp. lift. Side note: I do get tire rub on driver side header with 35" tires at full lock. It's worse if side spring is compressed. It was much worse before I swapped wheels for some with major offset.

Have you tryed readjusting the axles steering stops ?
Been running felpro metal gskt. It takes a little time torqueing up header properly and evenly. Alot of it can be done with a 1/4" ratchet and need a small wrench in a few spots. Once all torqued up use small wrench on all bolts to make sure even torque and then go drive and get hot. Let cool down and retorque. One other thing is start torque in the middle like doing a cyl head. Might find acouple needing a little torque and then snug up. Every once in a while I'll recheck because they are headers. Been very pleased with this product. I know their are some other gskts out their but these have worked just fine and reasonable on pricing.
