I have a 1979 Ford F-150 4x4 with the multiple front shock absorbers (quad shocks) and am wanting to put headers on. I would like to go chassis exit because my dual exhaust is new and wouldn't bolt up to the fenderwell exits without redoing the entire system. I have a good offer for a set of hedman chassis exit headers (89210) from JBG. The headers say they will not fit with the multiple shock absorber set up. Can anyone verify that they definitely won't fit? Even with a suspension lift? Thanks guys.
i would think that the chassis exit would fit since its in-between the frame rails and the quad shocks are outside the frame plus there in-front of the shock tower. Do you have a lift on the truck?

No it's not lifted but I plan to put a 4" lift on it this summer and run 35x12.50 tires. I don't know why the chassis exits won't work either, but the hedmans say "166 - Will not fit multi-shock absorber factory or aftermarket installations." That's why I am trying to find someone that can verify. I have to let the guy know Friday so I'm in a hurry.
Thanks!
I really can't imagine why they wouldn't fit but maybe you could call Heddman themselves.
My truck has Heddmans on an FE and they aren't anywhere near the shocks. Granted it has leaf springs but my shock hoops are taller than the stock half ton coil buckets.
I put the quad shock setup on my 77, from my 79 parts truck. The rear (of the front) shock mounts are the same, I just added the fronts. I have Hedman headers, chasis exit on my 400, although I don't know what model number they are. The only difference on the inside of the frame rails are the two bolts that bolt through the frame rail, a reinforcing plate and the nuts. I have no clearance issues, running a 4" lift. Outside the frame it's just the shock mount "cup." The lift shouldn't have anything to do with it, everything your lifting is outside and below where the headers run.
If it wasn't -31 here in Oklahoma with piles of snow, I'd crawl under and shoot a video for you, maybe before too long.
Also, I don't know if any crossmembers or widths between frame rails are different between the 77 and 79, but I haven't run into anything that wasn't compatible...yet.
