Timing question

I replaced intake gaskets on my '95 460 and cannot get it to start. After getting everything back together I turned it over until the timing pointer on the damper was pointed at the 0* which should be TDC. put my plug wires in firing order counterclockwise starting where the rotor was pointing with number 1. I get a couple of backfires and it tried to start a couple times. Can it be 180 degrees out?

Yes, you are 180° out. Next time set the engine at TDC (rotor pointing at #1) mark the dist. housing to the block, the rotor to the dist. and you won't have this issue.

No, you can't rotate the cap, it has locating tabs. Just rewire the cap.
