Yesterday morning I pulled out and my tranny was stuck in 1st. 4500 RPM and going 10 MPH ... anyway I let off the throttle, it shifted, then it stayed in 2nd, same for 3rd. Never got into OD before the tranny temp gauge came up to normal. Later that day it seemed normal.
When it's cold out, it's important to take your time starting out until the truck warms up to a decent temp. I don't know about the TorqShift, but the 4R100 is programmed to delay shifts and lockout OD until things get warmed up inside the trans.
This may be what's occurring on your truck, but since you have an '07 I'd have the dealer check it out and make sure it's not anything serious in disguise.
Shifting late when cold is normal, but I don't think 4,500 RPM is normal. Mine will go up to 2,900 or so on the first shifts. It's not cold here, but I still think 4,500 is too high.
No I was in a hurry so I just started and went. Return trip I started, went back inside, came out 10 mins later and drove away. No shifting problems there. I kinda thought the fluid needed to warm up a bit. I don't have a way to plug it in (live in apt) so it wouldn't benefit from the block heater.
Oddly enough whenever I was having injector issues my tranny would hold a gear for a lot longer and higher rpms until it warmed up a little and the motor smoothed out.
you would spin a cold engine to redline and beyond? do you keep your vehicles very long. i hope it was a life threating situation, thats the only reason i can see for beating an innocent truck like that. scuffed pistons and multiple headgaskets are the future if this is a habit
