With normal acceleration my ex up shifts at about 50-55 mph and makes a shuttering noise and has a slight vibration briefly during the up shift. Any ideas? Could a tranny fluid change help?

We kinda gotta know what engine you have in your Ex.
I use to see a lot of that in Lincolns and Crown Vic's . You can buy shudder fix for a temporary "fix " . I have had some luck using it for people that could not afford the repair .
My Excursion has a drain plug. I try to drain the pan every 2nd or 3rd oil change and change the filter every 25k miles give or take. When you drop the pan, the fluid is like new. I learned this after neglecting transmissions in the past and needing to replace a couple. I had a transmission fail in a Town Car recently at 315k mile. The only reason it lasted that long was the frequent fluid drain and fills. Before this I had transmissions fail at 175K.
