I went to AutoZone for a 'Vented' Fuel filler cap, and they dont sell them. They said it's likely nobody would have one, because of the EPA. So now I gotta find out why my fuel cap is no longer venting and fix it. I'd sure like to have two tank's in this truck. I could have twice the problems.
Latest catalog I have from Obsolete Ford Parts, Inc. has several gas caps listed--you should be able to find one for your application. Check their web site at www.ford-obsolete-parts.com
I thought all 460's came with dual tanks, how else can you get to the next gas station? The caps I have on mine look like aftermarket ones and are solid but they both fit so loose you might say they are vented.
It's strange, but I borrowed this piticular 77/460 three years ago, and it got 13 Mpg throuout 6 or more fullups. That was as good if not better than the old 292's did. We went all over the South with it. It's got power too.. I love it.
I'm still not sure what the problem is. My neighbor came up with a good troubleshooting technique for fuel tank problems. Get your Outboard gas tank, run a Hose for it right to the pump, and see how that work's. Yes, folks, I never thought of doing that. I may be too dumb to be working on these old trucks.
I went through a werecking yard today. Lot's of extra tank's, lines, tank control's in the dash, etc etc. Pretty rusty though. The trouble with being retired is you have to stop having fun to go on vacation. I'll be back in two week's and start again.
