I bought a starter for my truck about 3 months ago, it looks just like this one. They don't need the nose cone, it fit right in. It was another Oreilly special.
I think I'm fortunate, I have a starter/alternator rebuilder locally that I use, I think when he rebuilt the starter for mine he charged a little over $100. I suspect that, between him having a home shop, and the fact I've likely sent him over a dozen customers the last couple years, is why I tend to get good service. Unless he's totally swamped, he often tests and tears down while I wait, and that way he can tell me exactly how long and what parts it requires before I even leave the shop.
Ok thanks for all the input guys! I really don't pay attention to pictures as they're not necessarily application specific, that's where the confusion came from. Was looking for opinions about the companies and type of starter which I got so thanks. This is one of the parts for my truck that is weird. Even though I have the factory turbo [K] the starter for the truck is non turbo [M]. Go figure. Anyway I'll be going with the remaned gear reduction Mitsubishi with the lifetime warranty versus the tired one I have that had a three year warranty.
