OK I need to know how and what this does its in the A/C line and has wiring going to it......
Or should I say ....had.... when I cut up my harness wasnt thinking of using this ac system but things have changed and the original doent fit , Sooo I need to make my own system box and all but going to use the complete 1991 system my 78 doesnt have such a switch in the system at all......Does it make a loop to the compressor or is hooked to the A/C switch in the cab?
heck i got the motor and trans to work why not the A/C too and its alot cheaper to fix, I have already mounted the condenser and mocking up the hoses will be staring on the box over the weekend.
I went to the Air / heat section of the FTE site but its dead over there.
If that is what i think it is, it tells the AC comp. when to cycle based on air temp. I have no idea where it goes, im thinking it would have to go to some solenoid in the 12v wire between the switch and the clutch.
If its in an AC line, its likely a pressure switch that will turn the compressor on or off depending on the pressure in the line. Possibly a high or low pressure cutoff switch. But thats about all I know.
pretty sure it is the low pressure switch, if there is not enough freon in the system it will shut the compressor off, if you block it off you run a chance of burning up your compressor
If I find how its wired in it will get used but Ive searched the net high and low can find a signal thing about how to wire it, Can tell most people dont work on A/C systems themselves.
I don't have a wiring diagram, but I believe the wire from the dash switch runs to the low pressure switch then on to the compresser. If the system is low on freon, the switch is open, not allowing the circut to be compleated. If the freon has enough pressure, the circut is closed, allowing the juice to go on to the compresser clutch. The newer systems also have a high pressure switch that shuts the compresser off if the pressures in the system get to high.
So it just goes in from dash switch into that switch into compressor....
Nice summer project hope to get that part done before winter so I have HEAT! LOL...Wont be able to enjoy A/C this year need to get the truck back to work....But next AHHhhhh
