I tried this earlier on another section with no replies so I will try here. I have a 2003 f350 crew cab. The power locks work just fine by hitting the button on the door or remote. They all lock o.k. when the vehicle starts to move. The question I have is that when they unlock when the vehicle is put into park, only the front doors will unlock. The rear doors do not and I have to either pull the lock up or hit the unlock button. The child safety locks are off. Does anyone have any ideas or is this just another quirky ford issue?
I dont think the rear doors unlock automatically. As a matter of fact I think they all just lock auto but dont unlock. The front doors in Fords are designed to unlock automatically when you pull the interior door handle so I never really paid that close attention. The child safety locks just disable the interior handles they have no function over the actual door lock.
Yes it's by design, they probably figure that kids are in the rear most of the time and they dont want the doors automatically unlocking for them. I havent been out to check my truck but i believe that it is the same as what 2005Dually said, none of them unlock. The only time I have ever had my truck unlock the front doors is if I try to lock it with the key in the ignition. Are you positive that your fronts are unlocking when going into park? because if you pull the front door handles in any Ford the door will unlock and open...
Thanks for the info guys. I double checked what I am seeing. My doors do not automatically unlock. The fronts will unlock when the handle is pulled on. The rears will not with the handle being pulled on. I have to hit the unlock button or pull the lock up manually.
