the guy i got the truck from said he replaced glow plugs and injectors. So hopefully he was truthful now its just the no power issue, now i know why it didnt start before cause batteries were bad and discharged fast so hopefully once i figure out or get help with the no power issue itll start better.
WOW slow down a little was it starting before you changed the batteries or did the batteries die the same time you had no power. When you say no power are you talking to the starter or the whole pickup.
sorry, alot of things running thru my mind about the truck. Anyways it was starting before it started and i drove it all day wedensday, then thursday came when we got the cold snap and it would start just cranked and drained batteries, then nothing to the whole pickup. Ive changed the batteries and still no power to whole pickup.

i had ok glowplugs untill winter hit. they went south asap. how long does your wait to start light stay on? after it goes off does it make any clicking sounds? if it does you might want to start checking glowplugs.
i replaced the bad ones and then it was good for a few days, the rest went soon after. 8 new zd9's and it starts every time.
yes i cleaned them with a wire brush before i put them back on i even replaced the bolts as in they were badly corroded and to ensure i could get them tight.
Ok if you are sure your battery cables are clean and tight. If the 93 is the same as the older ones there is a gray connector on the passenger inner fender with 2 yellow wires ion one side and one yellow wire on the other side larger wires that connecter is bad about corroding and heating until it loses connection. Dave will probably come along with a picture pretty quick better than me trying to explain it. One word of caution with these trucks when they don't start right away DO NOT crank on the starter for over 20 seconds then let it cool down for a minute or two before another 20 second try or it will damage the starter.
i was actually thinking of replacing the whole connector that you are talking about, its a starter solenoid i beleive they are cheap here, and as far as cranking it thanks for the advice I was doing 10 or so of cranking then waiting 10 seconds then repeat.
First look for the wire connector circled in yellow.
The grey one.
Does it look melted?
If so, cut the yellow wire close to the connector on both sides, splice the wire back together.
Caution, that wire will have power on one side of the connector.
Now you should have power back in the cab.
Glow plugs, the 86 has a temperature sensor in the drivers side head, back against the firewall to control the glow plugs.
It like to fail with the glow plugs turned on.
If that has happened, the glow plugs were burnt out.
If the previous owner install Autolite, Champion or any of the other brand glow plugs, they may have burnt out already by themselves.
Motorcraft/Beru ZD1A glow plugs are what you should be using.
More in a bit when I get back from the store.
20 seconds is the absolute max, with at least 2 minutes cool time.
Or you will be replaceing the starter, about 250 dollars.
ill have to look for the connector in the morning with daylight, Ill also check my other fuses when i can see, hopefully itll be at least 0 by then so im not working in the cold otherwise it may have to sit till it warms up, Ive had no problems with this till the temps fell to the single digits and below, and its been a good truck and for my first diesel Im impressed but this whole deal today is making me want to get rid of the dang thing, i need a good daily driver and i cant plug it in at work.
OK I knew Dave would show up Quick the yellow wire in the circle is what I was talking about not the solonoied that connection is famous for this. The gp controller he is talking about is not what you have yours works different get power to them then we can adress anything else if needed,
