trying to get into a ford

Hi all, I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this or not. If not, I apologize.

I bought my first new truck a couple years ago and it was too expensive for me to keep and I had to sell it. I really miss having a truck and was looking to get into an older Ford. My father has a 97 F-250 Centurion with the 460 in it. I really like the styling of that truck and have been trying to find a similar truck with the 7.3 Powerstroke.

I am new to Ford and to the diesel engine and through my research I stumbled upon this site. I have done some trolling around the forum and decided to join to see if you guys could give me any pointers on the truck I am looking for. Last night I found a local classified ad for a 95 F-250 with the 7.3. The main interest for me in the diesel is for the improved fuel economy and I just love the sound of a diesel engine.

Is there anything major I should avoid when buying a truck like this? Any info would be great.

Thanks,
~Matt

1994.5 - 1997 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums You might get more response if you post your question on this page.
If you do a search there is a thread with a video of a `96 Stroke on a dyno putting out around 350hp.
Also check out the Pre-Power Stroke page as you might consider one of them, much less expensive to service and fix.
Good luck.

They are great trucks the 95 has the direct injected{more effecient and power} 7.3 International diesel good power and economy look at the transmission closely if its a auto {E4OD} they are good tranny's but kinda expensive to rebuild $2000 for a good job but these truck last well if taken care of! Good luck and welcome to FTE
