I'm very impressed with this old rig in the snow. Even in 2WD while empty it does well. Folks were flying off the road in the blizzard-like conditions tonight. It was ridiculous.
I stopped to help winch some guys out of a ditch, but they complained when I asked them to hook the winch cable up to their car. They said it was too dirty from the snow and mud. I left them in the ditch.

there are some people that just need to be smacked....years ago I was on an empty stretch of PCH (single lane area) it was about 3 am, real heavy fog, and about 45 miles to the next town. Half blocking the lane is a silver benz with its lights off....cut over hard and barley miss it (I was in a 32ft tri-axle bob-tail) and stopped to lend a hand. It was a woman in her mid 30's with a flat and no cell service. After getting the car off the road and changing the tire for her she started whining about how the temporary spare did not match and maybe she should wait for a real tow truck with a mechanic. All that was running through my head was telling here "you should just sit here"...I mean after all from behind the wheel of the 45000 lb truck i was driving 15 mins ago it was by Gods grace that there was anything left of her car (It was truly a miricle I didnt at least clip her at about 40mph)
There was not even a simple thank you, just total concern for the fact that the wheel was so ugly, and the yellow warning band didnt match her car

Wow, thats pretty dense.
Last year I hit black ice on a 2 lane highway. At first I thought maybe it was a transmission issue because the engine tached higher for a split second, then came back to normal. Thought nothing of it and continued to accelerate past 45 MPH. Then both rear tires kicked loose and the truck fish tailed from one side, then to the other. Thankfully I had enough practice on snow to not over correct and the after 2 swings, the truck was at closed throttle and slowing down. Never even thought of touching the brake.
Further up the road and further still to the 4 lane freeway, people were in the ditch everywhere. 4wd SUVs, big pickups and anything else that had traction control. Thankfully, I didn't see anything major that day. But at least the handle great with the low profile tires
Roads were slippery enough that walking would have been a challenge. Just pulling away from the curb required egg shell acceleration.
Best snow vehicle I ever drove was my sister's 4x4 diesel ranger though.
