does anyone out there know any info about the 534 ci ford engine? i have either a 69 or 70 Ford 900 with that engine in it, it is huge and sucks gas like crazy!!! if anyone can help me out, thanks
WE HAVE A F-700 FIRE TRUCK WITH THE 534CID AT A VOL. FIRE DEPT WHERE I AM A MEMBER. WE HAVE HAD ABOUT A DOZEN DIFFERENT MECHANICS WORK ON THE TRUCK TO TRY TO GET IT TO HAVE BETTER GAS MILAGE, NOTHING SEEMED TO HELP. ONE GUY SAID THAT ENGINE HAS VERY LOW COMPRESSION(8.1 TO 1) AND IS RATED AT 255 HP & 465FT LBS OF TORQUE. OUR FIRE TRUCK HAS A HOLLEY 850 CFM DBL PUMPER CARB.WITH ONLY 255 HP YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR FOOT TO THE FLOOR TO KEEP IT ROLLING.
You'd probably have better milege with a vacuum secondary carb. A quadrajet would work and keep the same CFM, Holley and Edelbrock both make quadrajet replacements with the same airflow (850 cfm)

Not exactly, we have a guy who works for us in Richmond at a giant pull-it-yourself place. He used to work there and has special privileges like being able to fully test the motors and trannies in the car before he removes them. We can check and see if you have a certain part you need. Right now we are mainly selling engines, transmissions, t-cases, rear-ends, and whole used cars. We have a three man team: me, the computer guy; Dave, the salesman; and JR, the parts getter.
I, too, still go to ECU, (should graduate this Christmas, though, best 12 years of my whole life, hell it is my whole life) and as a result the site does not get updated as often as necessary. I'm going to completely update it over spring break. I can tell you we have 2 FI 5.0's and the 2 small block AOD's that go with them (2 complete motor/tranny packages, both 2WD) we just got this week. Also have a nice mid-eighties 6 cyl F-150 that just needs a new carb.
If your son needs any parts, I do know of a junkyard just up the street from me that I do business with regularly. The guy is quite reasonable on prices and friendly to boot. I live in Ayden, about 15 miles south of G'ville.

George, Thanks!! He did early on, but I have him in a Ranger right now, and it's pretty stable.
We burned a Toyota up coming home one spring at the first exit on 264, because he didn't check the water before we started. I had to buy a tow strap and pull it all the way back to Durham, and with all his stuff on my truck.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
That's kinda wierd, since long ago in the beginning of my college career, I went to NC State, and blew up a car in damn near the same location.
The first car I had in college was a VW Bug. At the same interchange you describe, I tossed a rod in the VW. It was my fault, I tried to downshift into 3rd while going 70 mph. Instant rod toss. The bug had a built engine, and could go 75 in third on the way up, and top end was 100 (sary in a Bug) but I guess the rapid rpm climb on the downshift was too much for the motor. Just got another engine and drove the car for another 2 years. Then I moved up in the custom world from VW's to minitruck. First 2WD, then 4wd. Now I have a Japanese Sport Coupe, and a Monster F-150. Now I just need a Muscle car and I'll be set.
