LOL very good reason to turbo them all, we can eliminate the muffler.

A diesel with out a turbo just doesn't make since to me, why wouldn't you want more power and better milage?

I have no proof of this but it seems as though with a turbo you lose a little low end torque. So it would depend on how the individual person uses their rig if your mainly running around with an empty pickup an na works very well it also works better and gets better mileage than a comparable gas rig when loaded.
As far as mileage goes when you use the added power that a turbo gives the mileage factor is mute. And for me at least not using the added power is not really an option so the one I have with a turbo doesn't get any better mileage than the na rigs.
The one that I own with a turbo had it when I bought it so I can't really say it lost some low end torque and I have no idea how many mile are on this motor it is now getting tired.
Has any one thet turboed there na noticed a loss of low end torque as mine doesn't seem to have the idling power that my na does when 4 wheelin in the mountains I'm idling or at low rpm's a lot.

Another thing on the exhaust I have on every one but one ran duals straight off the manifolds with the least amount of bends I can get away with and the torque, perkiness and fuel milage has always been very noticable by letting them breath.

I've only driven 1 N/A truck and my truck definatly has more low end grunt but I have no idea what gears it had in it. In theory you should still get better millage while using the extra power, or at least the same as the N/A not getting the as much power, if the turboed mototr is tuned correctly because the extra power comes from a more complete burn of the fule of course most people add more fule on top of that to make a little more power. All I know is my truck got 16.25 MPG doing 70 over some decent hill with half a ton or so of my old 7.3 in the bed and a massive fule leak from the fule heater. Of cose I've gotten 18 on that same run and I think I got 17 when I was grosly overloaded and abusing the crap out of my new to me 6.9 but that was at 55 most of the time I was in Cali, no registration on the trailer and the giant red truck probly gets enough attention doing the speed limit.

from what iv gathered, this is the difference between wastegated and non wastegated.
the wastegated turbo's increase umph right off the line.this is better than na of course and better than non wastegated for a truck,as thats where you want your extra, for hauling, right off the line.
not sure why you would actually lose anything between a non wastegate and NA though off the line.there may just be no difference if anything.
(keep in mind tho,iv got 0% experience with this, and just what iv researched.)

The rason you would lose something is turbo lag, my waste gated turbo has no lag even with the abortion of pipe for tryed to pass off as a down pipe, they didn't fool any one.

Well that is probably it mine is an early ats no waste gate it only seems like it doesn't idle off with as much torque as soon as you give it some fuel it picks right up.

Actually I don't think you loose torque with a turbo.
But the extra torque after the turbo starts to spool makes you think you lost torque just off idle.

I did notice I lost a little bottom end torque when I milled the pistons, but the drop in compression ratio made that something you should expect.
