I wish Ford would bring back the Excursion. I would love to petition to bring it back. I would love to have a new 4x4 XLT Diesel. I looked at a number of X’s and 250/350’s before my current truck. Don’t get me wrong I love my current truck, but started thinking about what there is out there to replace the X.
-Chevy has the Suburban, but it does not come in a 3/4 ton frame or diesel -Dodge has the MegaCab 2500 Diesel. I had a 2500 MC 4x4 gasser, it had a cap which made it similiar to an X. The gasser got around 10Cty/15Hwy -Ford still has the Expedition, but it based on a 1/2ton frame and no diesel.
you have to many tofu fartin, tree huggin, "obummer-ites" that would throw a hissy fit that it's hurting the environment........ but the suburban is fine cause it's Gov't endorsed (so to speak) so it doesn't have the same rules to fallow. if ford re-made the Ex, they would get slammed with so many red tape rules and regs it wouldn't be funny.
i could see the head lines now........ "Ford brings back the famed Excursion with 6.7L, and 6.2L options, set to produce 20,000 in 2010"....... "obummer signs bill to make ford Excursions illegal on Jan 1st 2010, because they alone are the main reason for the global cooling (oops warming) crisis"!
nah -- he won't make it illegal ... he"ll just impose a 2000% tax on it
I hate that ignorant obumma. All he's done is get us further in debt and keep illegal's healthy on our dime.ILLEGALS
I would love to see a 2010 X. Coil spring suspension and a big a** diesel.
White Pride World Wide where i'm from.
My guess is that the White House would be the first ones in line to purchase such a vehicle. Bigger than the Sub and with a Diesel! Much easier to armor up.

probably not, they don't have a part ownership in ford.
as fo the 2000% tax, that would only be in a outstanding economy, in times of a recession they'd have to impose a 3500% tax!!
GM came very close to putting their new 4.5L Duramax diesel in the 3/4 ton Suburban. But, a little thing called bankruptcy interrupted them. Now that the government controls their actions, it is highly doubtful they will make this vehicle, even though it would save a lot of fuel and carbon emissions compared to 3/4 ton with 6.0L gas engine.

Ford wouldn't produce a unique vehicle that is expected to sell 20,000 units per year. You'd have to add a zero to that before Ford would consider it. No matter how similar the Excursion looks to a Superduty, it is a unique vehicle.
That's why there isn't an Excursion now. When they killed the Excursion there was a waiting list for Superduty orders. Getting the Excursion out of the plant freed up a lot of production to make Superdutys that were selling well.
It wasn't done to appease tree huggers, it was done to make more money. Selling that few Excursions was not profitable. There were a lot of unique parts that were expensive because their volume was low. Making all Superdutys is MUCH less costly, so there were more profits.

Agreed, as Hank Hill put it, these trucks are "too solidly manufactured..."
When Ford kept sending me letters asking me to trade up to a 6.0L in 2003 and 2004, I never bothered becuase I was happy with my truck and it was (and still is) the most trouble-free vehicle I've ever owned. So I figured, why ruin a good thing?!? Sure they were offering me a newer truck, but at the same time, I was used to mine and didn't really want anything else. MANY 00', 01', and '02 owners felt the same way, including some of my neighbors.
This is also why the Excursion now has a high resale value, it's a unique vehicle that is no longer produced.

Mark,
Absolutely agree! Thanks for bringing reality and reason to this thread.
