my 99 f150 with 5.4 had a junky aftermarket air intake I went to the junkyard and got a stock airbox intake assembly out of a 97 expedition with the 5.4 both vehicles have the same vin code for the motor the maf sensor setup is a little different in the 97 expy will it work ok with the 99 f150
If your 99 is a non PI motor you should be ok. Some 99s have PI heads and I would think the parameters of the MAF would be different because of the hp difference.
There will be a decal on the drivers side valve cover that's a little hard to see but will have your engine code on it. The code will be 2digits-3numbers-2letters, post the code and I can tell you if it's a P.I. setup.
In my opinion you'd want to use a M.A.F. sensor with the same ID number as the one you took off.
Good luck
if you don't mind me asking what is a power improved engine I saw the serial number on the head yesterday when I was changing o2 sensor it had pi after it so I kind of figured they were pi heads thanks for the info
The PI Heads had a few changes to casting, valves and the cam design and the way that they time. Take the heads off and the Blocks and internrals are same, only difference in engines for these are whether they are a Romeo or Windsor engine. The PI heads and cams are a nice swap into the non PI Mustangs, Thunderbirds, etc. Feels like a power adder has been added in those cars when you do the change.
Use this site for cheap parts and also to compare any part for interchange info.: RockAuto Parts Catalog
Just after looking your year model and part up, look at where the part number is typed in blue, click on that and it will tell you every vehicle the part was used on!!!
Yours for the Mass Air Flow Sensor showed this:

Very helpful when you have a $100 $200 or $300 item that you are gonna have to replace that you could get out of the junk yard, even sometimes you'll find parts that are used between different car manufacturers, just remember the risk involved in using a CHEVY part on your FORD!!!! LOL!
