I found a pair of floorboard lights for sale on ebay that, supposedly were a factory option on these trucks. I guess they mount under the dash? Is this true that they were an option and if it is, would my truck, which is a 77 custom f150 be prewired for them? My truck didnt come with a glovebox or ashtray light but it was prewired for them so installing was easy. I was just wondering if it would be the same for these floorboard lights. Thanks
Yeah, I just put a pair in my 77 F150 cunstom which never got that treatment from the factory. If you look under the dash at the lip, on each side you will see a round hole on each side through the first layer of metal. There are pre drilled holes to mount the lights. It looks like you do not have the factory wiring harness, which ties right into the factory wiring.
If you have the factory harness to go with the lights, look for the matching plug end (driver's side), it is the only one in this area that will match the plug, it is very intutive. I love how when you open the door, it lights up the whole floor area. A very nice up grade to your dent.
If you have a cargo lamp and dome lamp, you unplug the connector under the dash, driver side, and plug in the underdash courtesy lamp harness, in it's spot. The courtesy lamp harness has a second plug to plug back in the cargo lamp and dome lamp harness. Connector 702
If you have just the dome lamp, unplug it from under the dash, driver side, and do the same above. Connector 702.
It's really easy to do. You just need the underdash courtesy lamp harness extention.
Oh ok well thanks for the good info. I havnt bought the lamps yet, those are just some i saw. I may hold out for ones that come with the harness since i would need that too. My truck has dome interior light only. No cargo light. Thanks for the help
Thanks to all the replies. I messaged the seller of these lamps on ebay about the wiring. He did have the wiring harness and listed them for no extra charge. The wiring is complete, he says, but it has been cut and needs repairing. I rekon if it's nothing more than splicing, crimping, i can do that.
