I am beginning to dig for information on adding OEM uplifter switches to my F250. I have a 2010 F250 King Ranch. It currently has the change holder in place of where the uplifter switches would go. I havnt opened the dash to look for myself yet. For sake of my laziness can anyone tell me if my factory harness is prewired for the OEM uplifter switches that were an option to this truck or should I just plan on adding new wiring etc etc. Any other recommendations are welcome as well.. to give you an idea I plan on adding an air compressor and one or two light bars which is what I need to switches for.
I stared at the Q157R2.pdf document like one of those paintings you're supposed to see a sail boat in at the mall and came away more confused.
The graphic was just unfortunate and confusing.
(For my 2013)
You're going to want to pop open the panel to the left of the steering column where the light switch and AC duct are. There you will see the mount points for the relay box.
The portal on the mount point for fasteners is loose and there will be a fastener adapter on the relay box, so you will want to sandwich the mount point with the screw head on one side and the faster adapter on the other. This may cause you fits depending on the tools you are stuck with as you will be tightening from the underside-up without a ton of clearance.
After that, there is a connector pretty high up against the firewall on the right hand side of the steering column.
After that, I terminated the grounding cable to the metal bracing on the portion of the dash towards the center console.
I could force the plug through to where the switches mount without popping the two lower cigarette outlets and undoing the screw behind each that secure the lower edge of the center console piece.
Sorry if this is wordy...
Your model year may have you mounting in a different area. I have seen documentation showing mounting behind the glove box up over where the door latches. If your setup is different than mine and you write back with issues, I will look it up for you.
I have a quick question regarding how these switches work. My 2011 F250 doesn't have them installed so I ordered the whole part relays and all. My question is once these switches are in place are there leads off each switch to tie into the off road light I am adding? And are these leads hot? Meaning do I run the hot wire off the light directly to the switch or do I need to still run them to the battery first?

Read the instructions referenced above and it shows you where the wires are for each (relay) switch. What they don't tell you in the instructions is, in the first picture, you're looking at the picture from low in the engine compartment with the firewall removed! If you didn't know that, you'd got nuts trying to figure out where that "C-215" plug is! They are "hot" with the key on! Each switch, turns on a relay which in turn sends power to one of those four wires. You supply the ground to whatever you're hooking them to. Hope that helps...

Reason: spelling
Thanks Jim. So you are saying that the view of the first picture is as if I was looking from the engine into the cab with the firewall removed. So the relay box mounts on the drivers side? To me it looks like that C-215 plug is probably the hard one to find. Can it be reached without pulling the dash apart? Any tips?
My truck is in AZ while we are finishing up Christmas family visits. I have ordered all the parts I think I'll need but I don't have my truck to verify anything until I get back. I'm kind of hoping that the upfitters are prewired and all I'll need to do is add the switch.

C-215 was a B#@ch to find... and then to get to - (any ladies reading, please excuse my reference) a Gynecologist would have had a better chance of 1.) pulling the dummy plug out and 2.) plugging the plug from your harness into it! My hands and fingers were scraped, bent, twisted and... well, you get the idea. I think someone already described this but I had to lay on my back, on the drivers side floor with the back of my head almost pushing the gas pedal to the floor - then look straight up with a bright light and you can see C-215 staring back at you from a very tight space.
As for your last sentence, I have never seen a truck yet come pre-wired - the kit comes with the relay box, switches and harness. It is doable however - just prepare yourself mentally and have a warm garage to do it in. I think the whole thing took me about 4 (maybe 5) hours and I was already just past 60 years old (and no longer what I'd call flexible) at the time!
Perfect, you have been a huge help!! All this info will be greatfully put to use. And thanks for the pic of the harness. I think I got my head around it now.
