Serial number on 302 block
I'm trying to figure out where to find the serial number on a 302 motor and a 3 speed transmission.
Can anyone tell me where to look, I want to find out what year the motor is and what kind of trans I have.

Serial number on 302 block
Ford started stamping a partial vin number on the blocks around 1968. Look at the rear of the block, just behind the intake manifold for a flat machined surface. There may be a partial vin number die stamped in there. You also need to get the casting code from behind the starter. The tranny should have an ID tag attached.
