Clutch problem
My truck ran fine yesterday and went out today and stepped in and the clutch had a ton of play at the top and close to the floor it got some tension but odviously the clutch wasent engaging because i couldnt get it into gear. I have no idea what the problem is. The only thing that i can think of is i got the clucth hot and smelly about 4 days ago when i was trying to get unstuck but it ran fine after that until today. Anyone know whats wrong?

check the bushing on the clutch pedal where it connects to the master on the inside of the firewall. it's usually a plastic piece of crap, very weak, if you snapped it then the pedal could slide off the rod. this would cause a ton of play at the top and the tension at the floor could be when it's being pinned against the spring...easy fix, just put it back into place with a retaining clip but make sure the clutch still engages properly or else you might just need to replace the entire assembly
