I had same trouble with passenger side, replaced motor but turned out the fix was taking both side switches apart and spraying with electronic cleaner.

I have an 89 f150. The passenger window will let up and down with the switch on the drivers side but the switch on the passenger side will only let it up. The motors and switches have been replaced. I was wondering if anybody had a clue as to why it is doing this and how I can fix it. The problem is all ELECTRICAL not mechanical. Like I said the switch on the driver side will let the passenger window up and down just fine. On the other hand the switch on the passenger side will only let the passenger side window up not down. When you try to let it down the switch gets hot it does that even when it is replaced.

Passenger side switch

The switch on the drivers side will let the passenger side window up and down just fine. The switch on the passenger side will only let the window up not down. When you try to let it down the switch gets hot. The happens even when the switch is replaced .

Passenger side switch

I have checked all mechanical, that works great. I have found that the red wire with a black stripe gets hot when I attempt to lore the window from the passenger side. I believe that is the only wire getting hot from what I can tell. It only gets hot when you attempt to lower the window from the passenger side not the drivers side.

Window motor contains a plastic gear that is notorious for stripping.

DOAZ-62234A24-B .. Power Window Motor Gear Kit-includes a tube of grease / Available from Ford and autoparts stores.

1970/90 FoMoCo Passenger Cars / 1978/91 Bronco / 1980/91 Econoline / 1981/91 F100/350 / 1984/90 Bronco II.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Between the window regulator and window channel that the glass fits to...is a plastic roller. When it breaks, the window binds up or falls down into the door.

D6AZ-5323240-A .. Window Roller / Available from Ford and auto parts stores / 1976/90 myriad FoMoCo vehicles / Same with or without power windows.

Passenger side switch. It is not a mechanical problem.

The the problem is not mechanical. All moving parts function properly. My question is electrical. All switches have been replaced. The passenger side window will let up and down just fine from the drivers side door switch. On the the passenger side switch it will only let the window up not down. It is something electrical. The switch gets hot when you try to let the passenger side window down from the passenger side door switch. I'm not sure the electrical problem. I do know the red wire with a black stripe gets hot only when attempting to lower the passenger side window from the passenger side door switch.

have you tried checking all connections behind where the switch's plug into the black switch mount? They should release with a pick, or something.
