The owner before me spilled coffee on the intrument cluster and it ran through the holes for the trip resets, so there is old coffee on the inside of the guages and plastic, looks like ****. Does anyone know how or if I can take it out and clean it??? A new instrument cluster from ford is $422!!!! WTF, going to have to try and clean it. Thanx!
You should be able to remove the cluster. Once removed, there are screws that hold the clear plastic on. Removing that will allow access to the inside of the plastic and the gauge faces. Hope this helps.
REmoving the cluster will involve removing the plastic trim pieces around it, especially below it. A Haynes manual is pretty good at explaining the removal process.
You don't even need to remove the cluster from the vehicle to clean it, remove the trim around the cluster and then the clear plastic lense and you have access to everything. The gauges also unplug from the cluster body.
Try using some Plastx if a damp cloth doesn't get the job done. It worked well to remove some of the yellow faded color from my motorcycle's plastic windshield.
