Engine rebuild

I am going to rebuild my first engine and was wondering what kind of rebuild kit should i get. It is a v8 5.0l would love your help to get my truck back on the road

Eagle , Scat & others make rebuild kis for the 5.0 , but i wouldn't get a kit untill a machine shop looks at the block & heads & find out what it needs . Check in your area for a good machine shop ....Lew

X-2~ best to find out if it will need boring -crank turning e.t.c
before the rebuild kit is purchased
been there done that

X-3+ a good machinist is worth whatever he wants to charge (within reason) and will very likely be the difference between an engine that runs reliably and one that doesn't. That said, Eagle makes a good rebuild kit for the 302. Oh, yes - you cannot have too much chrome-moly assembley lube or pre-oil. Having a lot of assy. lube or pre-oil will make the engine barf a bit and smoke a lot when you first start it up after the rebuild, but too little of either will grenade that engine and then you'll need a new block.
