Ive searched all over the place and only found people using power steering pumps for plowing not the other way around.
The problem is my PS pump is junk and i have a bunch of plow pumps laying around with all the brackets and everything.
And with ford pumps being junk, i thought a plow pump would be a good free upgrade. My dad said you couldn't use it because of a bypass valve in the pump of something.
Is that true? Any other ideas why i couldn't use it?
I dont know what psi or even what brand they are, i was gonna just pick one that looked the best. but i do know none of them have a remote reservoir though
The only "upgrade" you can do on the FOMOCO P/S is to replace it with the Saginaw pump found on most of the Ford vans. Only issue is that you also need the same bracket found only on the van with this pump and engine to install the Saginaw pump on your engine.
The FOMOCO P/S lasts a decent amount of time as long as it is only used as a P/S pump and at most for brake assist. Anything else and the pump will fail sooner rather than later.
side note: Just because something looks good on the outside may mean that it was a POS to begin with...
