Hello all.
I got some Autozone gift cards for Christmas, and decided to purchase the above. Its special order,so I wont get it until Tuesday.
Ive done some research, but not sure what all it will do.It also says it can be transferred to a different vehicle.
My plan is to use it on my 07 F-150,but the wife has an 02 Impala.
I guess my question here is what parameters will it show, and how does it know what its installed in?
I know its hooked up to the diagnostic port....Id really like to hear from some of you that have one...Looking forward to using my new toy.
You are going to like your new Scanguage. I have one mounted in my F-150 using the blendmount to mount it to the rear view mirror. I often remove it to check error codes on other vehicles. When mounted in the F150, I can monitor 4 separate items. Normally, I monitor speed, RPM, battery voltage and use the fourth place to manually switch through the other readings.
To answer your questions, the Scanguage is connected to the On-Board Diagnostics port usually found under or near the steering column. Almost all vehicles have this port and conform to the OBD-2 standard. This allows your reader to read the information available on the OBD-2 port. The Scanguage should work on almost all vehicles. I have used mine on Chevys, Fords, Hondas, and Toyotas without any problems.
I have been able to read error codes and reset them. My mother was having problems with a faulty gas cap on a Taurus and she kept getting the fuel pressure error. I could reset her code, and get the check engine light to go out. After spending way too much on this error, I changed her gas cap and the problem disappeared.
when you get it, it will come with an instruction booklet. That booklet will give you a web site to go to. There you can get the codes to program into your gauge for various funtions. I have mine set for transmission temperature. It will make more sense to you when you get it.
