1977-1984 differences

I am looking at a 1984 300-6.It is a carbed motor. But there are so many different things on the 84 than my 77.First thing I noticed was the distributer.Do I just use my old one.And will my flex plate work on this motor.I'm getting it for free. But need to know what all has to be changed.I want to keep my automatic, and the other truck is a 4spd.Any help PLEASE

everything can be changed over. You will need to use your motor mounts, Carb, Distributer and ignition. You can keep the automatic but you have to pull out the pilot bearing in the end of the crank on the Manual tranny motor and use the automatic flywhee/flexplate. then your ready to roll.

Nothing changed on the motor over the years except that the 84 probally has an electronic carb and a TFI ignition. so swap over your parts and your good to go.
