Junk autometer pyrometers

Any one else have trouble with autometer pyrometers not lasting very long? I had one for about 2 years then it stoped working, so I bought another and it has lasted about 9 months whats the deal are these gauges junk or do I just have bad luck? Are there any other brands that are better?

Ive got a cobalt as well, mine is mounted on top of the steering column. Is their any chance moving the column up and down may have damaged it?

My Autometer Lunar series has been going at least 6 years. No problems. There is a specific resistance on the sensor lead. I'm pretty sure the lead was not engineered to cycle, so if by your mount, the wire is having to move constantly, that would be my first suspicion. How does it fail? Does it fail completely, is it way off, or just not what it use to be.

I'm on my second AutoMeter pyro gauge, first one last 4 years.

I was not happy with their customer service.

I never did end up talking to a human. I left my name and number on their answer machine twice to call me back, they never did.

Just bought a replacement from Clay and had it in four days.

This last time I just replaced the gauge and not the probe because it was fine. It worked good for about 5 months then the temps droped about 250 degrees, then last week the needle doesnt even move it stays on 100 degrees all the time. It still lights up an everything and I traced the wire and its in tact...
