Just trying to do something a little different with the old expedition so I was going to put some blue bulbs on as the running board lights. I have replaced all the other bulbs in the car with blue. However, I have not gotten around to taking the stock bulbs out of the running boards yet and I was wondering if anyone knew the specifications of the bulbs offhand??? Thanks in advance. PS> I checked the manual and the Chiltons first!!!!!
Hi to the group!
I just replaced a light on my stock running board, after taking an hour to figure out how the he** to get the cap off to access the bulb! Anyway, I took the burned out bulb to the local auto parts store and the owner took me to the bulb isle. He selected a two-pack of bulbs for less than $2.00 and I was on my way...
I don't know if they come in colors, but with the popularity of such lights today I wouldn't doubt you could find them in colors nowdays.
In short, head on down to the parts store and ask the kid behind the counter.
Just replaced mine and was disappointed to find that 3 of the 4 sockets were corroded beyond repair ( WI salted roads). Replaced the sockets and plugs with generic pre-wired plugs from the auto parts store. Never checked with Ford for the cost on replacement sockets, but probably way more than $1.95 at the parts store.
The bulb is a #194, just incase you were still wondering...I changed mine out on my 1997 E.B. Expy with blue ones....not quite sure if I like them yet or not..but it was about a 10 minute job. Some of my buddies like them...some of them are quite sure. I will give it some more time before I decide.

I ended up buying a one piece prewired socket. I cut the old socket and plug off the RB and spliced the new one on. There is enough room in the housing for the extra wire and splice fittings. I think the rewired socket is a fairly standard size - I seem to recall seeing them at a few auto parts and hardware stores. The new socket has the same size plastic base and "threads" as the old one and just popped right in - sort of a quarter turn to lock deal, like a tailight bulb socket. I will check on the brand I used tonight.
