Diesel fuel in oil

How do you know you have fuel dilution problems? Did you have an oil analysis done to check?
The regeneration cycle used to clean the Diesel Particulate Filter(DPF) every few hundred miles is known for causing fuel dilution. From what I've read it's because during regen the PCM pulses the injectors on the exhaust stroke which injects fuel into the cylinders. This washes the cylinder walls, and some inevitably makes it past the piston rings and makes it into the oil.
Most people who have posted analyses here have reported about 5% fuel dilution after 5,000 miles, and around 10% after 10,000 miles. Knowing this I am planning on changing my oil every 5,000 miles.

some oil growth is normal on the 6.4. the higher psi common rail will blow small amounts of fuel past the rings this happens most durring regen. Be very watchfull of the oil level in this truck. Very bad things happen to this engine when it gets way overfull. regular and timely oil changes is the only way to go.

suggest that you check your oil weekly and watch it's level, use the 5K severe duty maint cycle as suggested and as long as you work the motor more than likely you will be ok.
Driving in the city/slow speeds while regen'n hurts and I think that is where most of the fuel in the oil issues come from.
