PCV / carb Problem

My Holley 600cfm seems to be sucking oil through the PCV system somehow, and mixing it with the fuel going into the intake, is that possible?
I just put the engine in, it was a fresh rebuild, and I only put 500 miles on it, and went through about 6 quarts of oil. I first thought that the rings did not seat, but had good compression on all cyclinders. I was seeing smoke out the exhaust, and thought it was just running rich, but realized that I'm using alot of oil, and that is all that I can think of, as to where the oil is going.
Anybody ever hear of such a thing???
Any input would be appreciated???

No, I don't have baffels on them. Would that make a difference?

I think the pcv is sucking your oil up - I would get a set of stock or aftermarket valve covers that have the baffels that should solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply Chas.
I just replaced my breather cap with a non-vented cap in an attempt to cut down on the oil being sucked into the PCV, I don't know if that will make a difference or not. I figure if there is less air getting sucked in, then that should leave less air/oil to be siucked out the PCV.
I will definately put the stock covers back on and give that a shot.

PCV Vent Intake

PCV will draw crankcase fumes based on speed and manifold vacuum. The Vent replaces crankcase air as it is drawn up by PCV.
Don't block intake or you will cause crankcase leaks and rear seal leaks. Stay with vented intake cap and the baffled valve covers as suggested by others.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I tried saving a few dollars by getting cheap aluminum valve covers, which didn't have baffles. I never gave the baffels, or lack of baffels, any thought. I guess I learned a lesson. I'm putting the stockers back on tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again,
Ron

UPDATE: The baffels were apparently the problem. I pulled out my breather while the motor was running and revved up the engine. All kinds of oil was splashing out the hole.
I then put the stock covers on and changed the oil. I ran it 100 miles, and didn't notice any smoke out the exhaust and the oil level didn't drop at all on the stick.
I appreciate all the responses, I thought that I had a major problem, and all I had to do was change my valve covers.

Thanks,
Ron
