Anyone know of a way to tighten up the vent window levers? It sounds like hurricane andrew when I'm going down the road. The vent window levers are loose and I need to tighten them. Anyone know how?
The easiest way I have found it to fold up some paper and put it between the latch and the little chrome plate where the latch rests. Ive seen wrist watches, coins, charge slips, Life Savers wrapers, and many other things to keep them from howling. Good luck
Mine were `slightly loose` I nocked out the roll pin and found the pin slot was worn. I drilled out the pin hole on the handle and installed the next larger roll pin to tighten up the handle..
It took out about half of the `slop` in mine.
May work better for you....
Most auto parts stores have a wingwindow lock. Don't rely on these for security however, last year I had a truck stolen and the means of entry was a prybar on the wingwindow. The lock was no match. It will work for synching down the window if your stock latch won't.
this must be a common problem. mine are loose too. i bought a roll of weather stripping, it comes in several sizes, and plan to put some in there to stop the wind.
i think it was poorly designed.
Both of my vent windows were tight, until some SOB broke into my truck throught the pass. side by prying on the vent window until he could slip something in and flip the catch. I had something wedged to take up the gap for a while, but I found the vent window locks like discussed earlier. They hold them tight, but the catch will still be loose.
