Injector testing

is there any way to test an injector? the local shop wants 50 bucks, and being the cheap sob I am I am hesitant, plus they want 209 for a used one!!

Anybody with an AE that is close to you would be happy to help you out I am sure. What are your symptoms?

IMO - Do not pay that much for a used injector. You can buy a brand new Alliant for less...

I tested it with my pro-link, weak buzz on #1, but I can't do a running cylinder cut out test, will the AE do that?

If it will, that would be a good reason to get the software.

Thanks Clay, that helped. I will be calling you on some mods soon. If the tax man wasnt taking all my money I would get the HP injector set!!!

No. AE can run a cylinder contribution test and let you monitor % change in rotational velocity (perdel) readings live, as well as run the buzz test. To cut out individual injectors you'll either need to unplug each injector individually, or build a break out box where you can manually switch each injector off.

However, based on buzz tests, rotational velocity and contribution test readings with AE, you can pretty much guess which injector to unplug to confirm your issue.

thanks, the pro link will do all that too, but cost a lot more, shoulda checked here before buying pro link cartridge. But anyway, got injector back from shop and there was a plate loose inside causing oil to bypass and not pushing the plunger down. so for about 60 bucks got injector gone over and new o ring set installed. that will keep it going untill gather enough money for big horespower injector replacement. I've got the fever, instaling the Bully Dog tripple tuner GT now.

You really should follow you're own advice and check here first. For about the same money as the Bully pup, you could have got a real tuner with switch on the fly capability that will run circles around that big advertising budget stuff. Clay could hook you up with a real tuner too if there's still time to return that bully pup.
