4x4 basic operation
OK, call me stupid but I am confused about the operation of my 4x4. If the control is on the dash and not on the floor then it is ESOF? If that is true then I can shift from the cab or get out and manually lock them right? I never really thought much about it but in the past I always did both when I need 4x4. Also, do you turn the hubs counter-clockwise to lock them? My labels on the hubs have wore off and that is what it looks like in the manual.

If your ESOF is working properly the hubs should lock automatically. No need to lock them manually. The reason they have a lock position is in case the hubs do not lock automatically then you can lock them manually.
I always remember "Clock-Lock" so I turn them the right direction if necessary.

That's right, otherwise there would be a manual transfer case shifter coming through the floor.
