help me please
1992 f150 4x4 5.8..ok I took the pump out of the transmission to replace the front pump bushing, pump seal and front seal, then I go to put the pump back in and now I cant get the pump to go back far enough for the bolts to grab, is there something I am missing ..its about a 1/2 inch from where it should be . is it suppose to go back on fairly easy or did I screw up something else when I pulled it out?...is the gear directly behind the pump supposed to be flush with the bellhousing? I noticed the gear sticks out about 1/2 inch and I don't know if it is supposed to be like that or did it pull out when I pulled the pump? Please help me

And also when the gear directly behind the pump came out when I pulled the pump, the little gear(sungear?) also fell out, there is a wide side and a narrow side, which side goes toward the transmission, Thank you so much for any help

you wouldn't happen to have a diagram of how the overdrive section goes together, would you? does the overdrive section include the big plastic gear looking pieces that look like they (might go around the coast drum)? All your help is greatly appreciated. I have to do this myself cause I can't afford to take it to a mechanic. thankyou

Remove the coast clutch drum from the case.
Then remove the big snap ring that holds the overdrive clutches in the case, remove all clutches and steels, make sure you install them back the way they come out.
Remove the center shaft assembly, watch for the bearing on the other side, use a small amount of grease to hold the bearing on the hub that you just removed.
Remove the snap ring and all the cluches and steels from the coast clutch drum.
Install the small sun gear on the coast clutch drum with the narrow row of teeth into the drum, its a tight fit and it can be tough to get splined in the drum.
Install the center shaft assembly on to the small sun gear on the coast clutch drum, turn it till it is all the way down. It should spin one way and lock the other way.

Install the coast clutch clutches and steels back into the drum, spline the clutches to the hub and the steels to the drum, thick plate on top, snap ring.
At this point the overdrive section is ready to go back into the case.
Tilt the case up, or better stand it on its tailshaft. Hold the overdrive section with the center shaft side down, hold it from falling out of the coast clutch drum.
It will be a bit tight setting the assembley down into case on your fingers, let it down as far as you can, then let go of it. It will fall just a little, give it a turn and it should spline into the case. At this time it will be all the way down.
** If the center shaft falls out of the coast clutch drum or if the coast clutch drum comes back out before you install the pump you will have to start over.**
Install the big overdrive clutches back into the case, spline the clutches on to the coast clutch drum and the steels to the case, install the thick plate with the dimple on the plate at 12:00
If you took the pump apart to replace the bushing you will need to line up the pump half's.
Remove the outer oring and loosen the pump bolts, use a strap or a band around the pump, just about anything will do. I use a timing belt turned inside out.
Make sure the bolt holes that go through the pump are inline so the bolts will fit through the bolt holes. Tighten all the bolts back down, make sure you have the bearing on the back of the pump stator and the thrust washer on correctly, put the oring back on, gasket in the case and install the pump back into the case.
** You should be able to push the pump down with you hands and you should see that the pump is resting on the gasket in the case from where the filter fits in the case, Once the pump bolts are back in and tight the inner input shaft should turn by hand **

will 1995 f-150 parts bolt up and work on 1992 f 150
ok i have a 1992 f-150 4x4 all the spring mounts are shot and the front and rear end have alot of play the tranny is really weak. all the egr pipes are broke the engine leaks oil like a siv. but it does have 263,000 miles on it and they've been pretty rough muddin and pulling trailers probably not even meant for a f 350 let alone a 150. but an how my question is will the engine, tranny, transfer case, steering gearbox, ecu, front and rear end and all mounts bolt up and function properly from a 95 150 with the same engin and i believe the same tranny. and as well as doing this i am also wanting to take the dual tank system out of the 95 since my 1992 is a single tank. what all will i need from the 95?
