78/79 are narrower spring perches and the center chunk is more towards the middle than the 85* - 97s.

A 85-97 D60 should easily fit under your pickup, Tim.

I've always read 85.5 was the switch over, like a mid year model - but I have no idea from personal experience. Either way, should get him close enough - hopefully he tell if it's a ttb or a d60

Well, I have a D60 out of a 85 in my wheeler. Don't remember what part of the year it was made though.

Hm, maybe I'll try to do some research later on to figure it out for sure.

hey guys how much of the ttb crossmember can you cut away? im at a crossroads either dump $$ into this ttb to fix it or spring for a d60, but if a get a 60 right now i wont be able to afford a lift at the same time, well maybe a shackle flip lol, what do you guys say???

Go for the D60. Your going to put putting just as much money into fixing the TTB that you could be putting towards more important things.

Why do you want to cut away the TTB crossmember? Are you referring to a SAS or do you just feel like hacking away at your truck? O_o

lol, everyone says the ttb crossmember gets in the way of the differential and that you have to trim it to make the solid axle fit

Ah! So your referring to the SAS. Well you can notch out what you need to so the driveshaft/axle will fit fine, or you can do what most do.

Replace it. :P

Well my crew is on a supercab longbed 4wd chassis. There was a piece of 1/4" plate welded to the frame to "box" it right where the pass side front cab mount is. Well i cut it out to see what the hell is goin on. Apparently some *** has cut the frame top and bottom to fit car manifolds. Then either him or another *** decided to boogerweld weld in patches and box it. Looks like ill grind the welds and reweld. Then ill have some 1/4" bent to make a "c" that fits the inside contour of the frame rails. I think that will take care of the problem.

Meanwhile the idea of a 4 door bronco on 37s with a cummins keeps wondering into my mind.
