I get a couple of the grooves on the rail for the detent ball to come out of the case and comes to a stop, it slides back an forth easy but just wont come out of the case. Do I just need to give it some more "persuasion" or is there anything else that could be holding it up?

I also already took the freeze plug and pin out of the case so they aren't getting stuck anywhere. The rail really comes to a hard sharp stop like it's hitting something.

I'm gone for a month and I come back to find some hilarious quotes by Dan along with 10 new members. This place got popular after I left. I feel so loved.
So went wheeling in the ranger today. I think i'm just going to ditch the F350. I like being able to wheel in something with affordable gas mileage.

Well, time to leave for another month.

Fuel economy is for people that can't handle real power.

i always called it my redneck tax. if you want to have big tires and a big motor you learn to live with 7 mpg on a good day with the wind pushing you on flat ground. man i miss when gas was $1.15 a gallon and you could afford to drive your truck whenever and where ever.

I'm with you on that Dan, the F350 got a lot more love even when gas was $2 a gallon. But right around $3.20, with 8mpg when i'm not wheeling it. Something I realized wheeling the ranger though, it can go anywhere the F350 can. The only differences I notice is that:

1.) Nobody has the ranger trying to recover a full size rig. (Something I always got stuck doing in the F350.)
2.) You can go a lot further on a tank of gas in the ranger.
3.) It fits on a lot tighter trails.
4.) 35's are "big" on a ranger.

And for the trails the extra power of the 460 isn't needed, there just isn't any place for it.

The way I see it, if you worry about how much gas/fuel you are going to burn out wheeling, you shouldn't be out there in the first place.

I've burned up 25 gallons easy in a good days wheelin. You know what I did the next day? Filled it back up and went again!

I do have to say it is fun wheeling a little rig sometimes tho, but I tend to think I'm in a go cart and end up jumping the **** out of them.

You say it like that's a bad thing Dave.
Aw gee Kris, make me feel so loved.

There are perks of both, I had a blast out in the Ranger though. And like I said, not really a whole lot of reason for all the extra power on the trails. Mud is a different story, but I don't hit a whole lot of that anymore.

I doubt I can ever bring myself to actually get rid of the F350, but we'll see how things go lol.
