Please help me here. Bought a "brand new, pre owned" 05 SCREW last week and done went and broke my CD Player. I misoperated the "Load and Eject" toggle. Player, like my wife, complains that I mistreated it, and refuses to do any thing. Any one have some thing similer happen and is there a repair other than shop time?
If it's the 6 CD unit, seems to be a common failure component. Bought my truck last summer, insert a CD and it would go in then come back out and showed a Load Failure message on the unit. I had mine replaced under warranty so it's currently working. There was a thread on one of the forums showing a plastic gear chewed up that apparently is the culprit. I have not heard of anyone finding a source for a replacement so it looks like it's either sending it off some place or getting a replacment at the moment.
Thank you for your reply. I was somewhat afraid that was going to be the answer. I guess the next thing is to check with my local Ford dealorship to find who they send them too.
Maybe put a WTB out there, check some of hte forums for sale items, even ebay. I've seen them for around $75-$100 at various times. There another non-cd pioneer head on another site for $85. Worst case, right now you can't play a CD, you still have the other functions in the unit.
Ah,Ha, as I said, the CD Player was much like my wife, truculant! I pushed the buttons too many times, the wrong way, which I admit, and it stopped working. And after going on "strike" over the weekend, it must have decided that I had been punished enough. Ya know a fella can only go so long with out Lawrence Welke, the player came back on line and started working again. Thank ya' all for your responses, but I doesn't have to tear it apart. I don't have instructions. So I'm putting away my air impact wrench, air die ginder, air side grinder, air chisel and plasma cutter. Gonna have another cup of coffee. Merry Christmas, ya all
