Ours is melting, but not very fast. Just too damn deep! I wish it would get warmer!!
No you don't and you definitely don't want it to rain either. We hit the 50s and/or see some rain and look out '93 cause it's starting again.
Heck if someone in Osceola flushes a toilet twice we flood here let alone this stuff melting quickly. this lower 40s in the day and refreeze at night is the perfect way to get ride of this much snow with the least amount of damage.
I know what you mean, Rob....'93 was the worst....my house in IL sits atop a hill....my driveway it just off center of a country "T" intersection....there is a bridge within 1/4 mile of my driveway in each of the 3 'outs'.....
'93, all three bridges wash out, no way out for 6 families.....the ONE smart thing we did when we realized the first bridge was going to cave, was to park our cars on the other side and put all our john boats on our side.....
we were without bridges for months.....it was definitely an experience~~
Exactly Tammy,
This wasn't 93 it was actually 08 when they finally reopened hwy34 so I could go that way instead of going almost a 100 miles out of my way each way everyday to go around it. This is 3 miles from the river outside of Gulfport IL
In the last one you can see how the road goes under water and how they used barrades to build it up with gravel so we could drive across that one part. When it first flooded that was 10ft under water.
It was worse this last time around in 08... We had to go all the way to Marshalltown in 93 to get across to Cedar Rapids, this time had to go to Hwy 20 and back around to get to Cedar Rapids, however, it was shorter term. The Corp of Engineers didn't hold back the water the same way they did in 93, so it cleared out a bit quicker.
