My 86 has over 450,000 miles on it.
Probably replaced the glow plugs three times, and one of those was switching from ZD 1A's to ZD 9's when I built the motor, the ZD1A's I took out were still good.

Not one swollen tip, no broken or missing tips and very few failures, even though they have been manual control for many years.

Why would I even consider changing what has worked so well for me for so many years to go to any unproven product to me from anyone?

I am stupid, if something works for me, I stick with it like glue till it don't work for me any more.
Then and only then, will I even consider something else.

Right now, Motorcraft/Beru makes glow plugs.
I have heard rumors there are others out there by different manufacturers.

The Motorcraft/Beru plugs have always started my truck, no matter how cold it is without plugging it in.

I don't care how many videos, how many spec sheets, how many test results or even how much they cost, only one glow plug goes in my truck.

It says Motorcraft/Beru on the pack and has "Made in Germany" stamped on it.

Time proved and cold weather proved Motorcrafts/Beru's are it for me.

I don't know why you think I should change.
You can run what ever you like, I will run what I like.

If someone asks, I will recommend what I like.

What I recommend will not be Autolite, Champion, Bosch, AC Delco, Wellman or any of the 20 other brands out there.

I am with Dave on this one. When I put the 6.9 in mine The gps were all shot. I tired to be my cheap self and bought a set of bosch on ebay cuase they were cheap. Well not a one of them would heat up. It took me two days to figure it out. I pulled all of them and hooked them to the batteries and I could hold them with my fingers. I went to Kentucky motors and bought a set of zd 9's for $12 apiece and they still work over a year later. They are also on a manual switch and I can't always say just how long I heat them. But I will always use the motrocraft/beru plugs as long as they sell them. Oh and by the way, thanks Dave it was your posts on gps that got me to go with the good ones.

Mine are probably like Syco's. All tested good with a bulb and are at 0.4 ohms or so, but crank-crank-crank. Plug it in and it fires first turn. Just got a set of Motorcraft/Berus from Rockauto, $10/ea or so. This is not something i want to screw around with at this point.
Once the old ones are out safely, I'll BURN THEM UP [insert mad laughter here].
