First beef up old trans, get performance torq converter( better stall speeds), shift kit, bigger trans cooler, and install trans. temp. gauge. after that trans case will be worked on as well, probabaly gonna lower gears and install detroit lockers as well, then K&N cold air intake, replace entire intake system with cherry bomb duel exhausts, install the fitch fuel cataylist, performance chip, beef up motor , take my 4 in lift off and install 6 in suspention lift and maybe 1 in body, man i can go on and on and on and on. such a variety too choose from, and a nasty $$. had her since I was 16 shes treated me great!! never broke down on any of our dune trips, so i guess its time too retun the favor!! she is kinda my baby and my buddys know it. Well, you are already going to rebuild it, but I have the same problem on my F-250. It works fine, but shifts hard when the light starts flashing. I pulled a code that is the TC Clutch Solenoid. I sure hope mine doesn't go south like your did, but it hasn't been too abused, so crossing my fingers! Other than the hard shifts, it works beautifully before the light flashes and seems to have no other problems. fluid is good, not burnt, so we'll wait and see! let us know what happens.
