Flashing O/D light means codes are stored and they need to be scanned for diagnostics.

I don't know where the speed senser is on the 92 but its on the rear axle on are superduties and that sometimes will cause hard shifting. Get those codes read like said above. Chet

Check ALL your fuses first! My O/D light was flashing, and one of the MAXI fuses was blown, it was labeled "trailer" or "tow charging" something-something". I cant remember exactly and the truck isnt here. I do know it was a MAXI fuse though. Changed the fuse and no more flashing.

It means your torque converter slipped. It's normal under heavy loads but means it would be a good idea to let up the throttle when you know it's going to shift

Maybe, maybe not. There are about 50 things that could make the OD light flash. A slipping torque converter is one of those.

There is no reason to left up on the throttle when it's about to shift.
