With the left hub locked in you are turning the left front axle only BUT unless you lock both hubs you WILL NOT BE PULLING WITH THE FRONT AXLE. It will not hurt a thing with just one hub locked except your fuel mileage. On my old 3 trucks, I had manual hubs no ESOF, in the winter time I would lock the passenger hub in only and leave it and when I needed 4X4 I would stop and just lock the drivers side in floor shift the T-case to 4hi and not have to walk around and lock the passenger side, I did that for years and had no problems.
