Problems with '06?
We have a 2006 F350 that we use to pull our horse trailers. Yet again it's in the shop and I came searching for answers, just was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with this year?
Quick overview of what's been done; new turbo, new injectors, new EGR, new fuel system, and some other stuff - I don't have the entire list, but since the list was printed, it's been in 3 more times. This truck ends up in the shop almost every month with problems. Just last night it clanged, banged, poured out white smoke and died on the side of the highway.
Our horse trailers are not over the weight rating for the truck and the last few times that something has happened to it, it hasn't been pulling a trailer.
I've called Ford Customer Care and they havent did much, except give me constant excuses and I've gotten pretty irrate with them. This is our 19th Ford pickup and not the only one we own right now - in the driveway there are 2 F250's and an F150.
The F350 just rolled over 61K, so it doesn't have a million and one miles on it. We can't really take it anywhere without breaking down, so it's a lawn ornament.
Anyone else had as many problems with their '06 or know of someone whom I can call and speak with? We're getting desperate and wanting to rid of it, yet no Ford dealer will deal with it or give us a fair value.
2. Get a super duper pro to fix ALL the problems of the thing for you at once.
Ask bismic for advice here.
3. Once debugged, the 6.0 is pretty good.
I have a 2nd hand 2005 with 260,000 miles and it is slightly buggy, but for its age.. WOW.
You need a cracker jack diesel mechanic and dealer.
If needs be, slip some cash under the table to the fella to get it right.
And I thought we had an under the table guy to fix it; unfortunately, he dissappeared and no one knows where he went to.
Any recommendations for someone in Michigan to fix this sucker? We're willing to spend the money, but it needs to be right.
Make sure it is bona fide --- not some skimpy "powertrain" or "certain parts" warranty.
Get the FORD near complete coverage extended warranty even if you have to pay sticker price for it (most dealers discount it).
I am too far and I am not a qualified diesel mechanic.. more electronics guy.

Do you mean that repairs have been done by someone OTHER THAN the dealership? If so, can you explain a little more?
Is the truck modified in any way?
Do you have the routine maintenance records?
What has been your history on the fuel filters, oil and filter, batteries?
Is it in a FORD shop now?
Please give some more details on the repairs (ie when they were done and EXACTLY what was done).
When you say new EGR - is it the valve or the cooler?
When you say new fuel system - what do you mean?
Let us know what the "other things are".
It may be a lot to type, but the more you share, the better the advice.
Right now, gearloose1 and UGA33 are correct - getting competent help seems like JOB #1. We can point you, but you need te expertise in a shop environment!!
The 2006's are generally pretty darn good. Clearly there are some that experience problems though. You really need a good Ford mechanic. You might try connecting up with the Michigan Chapter OR ..... you can wait for awhile here. I know that some of the folks on here are from Michigan - I would bet that someone turns up.
If you have had folks other than the dealership work on it OR , if you have been lacking on the maintenance, you may be in for some tough times.
Later, I will have access to a phone number w/ the EPA. You may be able to get help based on the "Emissions Warranty" (which is 5 yrs and 100k miles). It covers your EGR system (and it sounds like you may have a blown EGR cooler).
Get us the added info and see if that helps us.
