here are my symtoms....

2002 F150 4.6L V8

1. slight knocking when idle and after startup
2. sluggish and hesitating at 30-40 and 50-70 mph
3. theft light blinks at even the slightest hesitation/knocking
4. no issues from 0-30mph.

any thoughts?

Lots of info you can learn about the 4.6 misfire problems.

Did you find out what was causing your problem? I think my truck is doing the exact same thing (or something very close) to what yours was, and I am having a hell of a time finding someone else that has already been down this road. My truck misses in all gears (off and on) only during acceleration, and I can often times see the "theft" light flickering when the missing occurs.
