If I was in the position that it was constantly so cold out it was hard to start the truck I would buy one of those Honda EU1000i generators and chain it up in the bed of the truck or toolbox. They run quiet, don't take much gas to run and you will always have a power source to plug in to. When I go skiing in the winter time theres always so many Super Dutys and Excursions. Most leave their truck running all weekend which I think is kind of weird. But I guess they are scared of gelling and not getting restarted. I always top off the tank close to the resort and park up against the wall of a building and haven't had a problem. I saw a couple that weren't running but they had these small generators in the bed and would start them and plug in the night before they checked out.
But like others have said, if your truck is working the way it's supposed to, you can start in 0 degree temps without needing to use the block heater. I just started mine last night, fired right up and it was 20 degrees out. Not a hint of smoke and I'm using regular old dino 15W-40. And my EBPV and high idle always kicks in a minute or so after.
